ACT Chairs collaborate with Principal and staff to find and schedule arts enrichment program for each grade’s curriculum. There are school wide presentations as well as an additional presentation per grade. These programs are funded 100% by the PTO.

Big Backyard

The BBY program is a series of curriculum based nature walks developed to provide hands-on learning in science and social studies.  Parent volunteers are needed to support classroom teachers in coordinating resources and leading small groups of students on specific walks.  Volunteers are instructed on how to lead the specific walk with the help of a written guide and walk-through training.  No experience needed.

Book Swap – “Stories Under the Stars”

An exciting whole-family evening of shared stories, crafts, a book swap, and more. Students donate their gently used books and take home “new” books from the Book Swap. Volunteers help with set up, book collection and sorting, crafts, and clean up on the evening of the event.

Bowman Writes Magazine MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Bowman Magazine is put together almost entirely by students.  The editors (4th grade students who are learning computer skills) are led by a fourth grade teacher. The 4th graders arrange the layout of stories, poems, articles, puzzles, comics and other submissions written or drawn entirely by Bowman students.  Bowman students of all grades see their work and their friends’ work in the magazine.

Family Math Nights MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

Parent-child fun filled evening of math games held once a year for each grade. Parents help set-up grade appropriate math games in the school cafeteria. Parents do not need to be math gurus to participate!

Girls Who Code Club MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

The Girls Who Code Club is for 3rd-5th grade girls and non-binary students to learn about computer science with the mission to close the gender gap in technology. Math Team

Bowman Math team is run by PTO parent volunteers, for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. Registration will be open until September 13, 2023. Registration will be limited to approximately 25 students per grade with lottery selection if there are an excess of applications. Math team meets for 25 weeks before school at 7:45am, with each grade on a different day: 3rd grade on Wednesdays, 4th grade on Mondays, and 5th grade on Fridays.
